You will never see a prouder coach than John Legend when it was announced that his Voice contestant, Maelyn Jarmon won the 16th season of The Voice.
It was no surprise for many that Maelyn became the 16th winner of The Voice. For some, it was a long time coming, and many had marked her as a potential winner right after her breathtaking audition, that left judges short of words.
Picking John Legend as her coach initially raised a few eyebrows, owing to the fact that John was a new coach on set, but that didn’t stop her. In fact, the duo combined to ensure she gave terrific performances throughout the season.
For many who saw her perform her original single “Wait For You,” at the season’s finale immediately had no doubts that she would be the winner. Everything about her performance leading up to the finale has been nothing but stellar, and she capped it all up with final performance. There is no hiding it that there is a star in Maelyn Jarmon.
The finals saw four singers vying for number one spot. At the end of the night, fourth and third place went to Andrew Sevener and Dexter Roberts respectively, while in second place was Gyth Rigdon.
John had the look of a proud father when the winner was announced. With Team Blake having three of the four finalists, the odds was pretty stacked against Team John, but when you have a star like Maelyn Jarmon, those odds don’t matter.
The finale was packed with incredible performances from the finalists as well as special guests’ appearances from Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Khalid, and much more. The 17th season of the voice is coming this fall, and with John returning as a coach, maybe he can pull another win from his sleeves. Well before that time comes, let’s just enjoy
